The PD Lab brings in speakers from industry who can describe the “real” problems of Product Development management.  These speakers offer a valuable experience to students and researchers by describing the often conflicting aspects of theory and real world complexity—we learn about the daily struggles and how decisions really get made.

The lecture series also has the added benefit of fostering relationships between industry partners and academics leading to mutually beneficial research opportunities.  Industry partners receive the additional side benefit of presenting their company as a possible place of work for graduating students.

Individuals from several departments in the engineering school often attend the lectures.  Business school faculty, PhD. Students, and MBA’s also regularly attend the lectures.

 

Upcoming Lectures

We have joined forces with other labs at UIUC to form the Enterprise Systems lecture series. Currently, the scope of the seminars includes research performed in the Advanced Technology Management Laboratory, the Illinois Genetic Algorithms Laboratory, and the Product Development Research Laboratory.
