Professor
Henrique L.M. dos Reis, Ph.D., Professor of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering,
joined the faculty in 1980. Before coming to the University of Illinois,
he was on the faculty of the Universidade de Campinas, Brazil, where
he taught structural mechanics. He earned a degree in mechanical
engineering from the University of Luanda, Angola, in 1972, and joined
its faculty
to teach courses in solid mechanics. He enrolled in the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in 1973 and earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees
in Mechanical Engineering in 1975 and 1978.
His research centers on the
theory and application of nondestructive
testing and evaluation of materials and structures. He is the Director
of the Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation Research Laboratory
where he manages industry-sponsored research and development projects.
He
is especially interested in integrating the fundamentals of nondestructive
evaluation in the areas of manufacturing and design such that processes
can be monitored and products evaluated.
He is a Fellow of the British
Institute of Non-Destructive Testing and of the Acoustic Emission
Working Group (AEWG). He is also a
member of the American Society for Engineering Education, American
Society
of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Aeronautics and
Astronautics, American Academy of Mechanics, Society of Experimental
Mechanics,
and the American Society for Testing and Materials. Contact Information
